Anise Seed, also called aniseed, has a mild flavor and sweet aroma that resembles licorice, tarragon, and fennel seed. Anise Seed, along with Ground Anise Seed, are used in a variety of ethnic confectioneries such as Manna.
To make Anise Tea, also known as Shai Ma Yansoon, grind 1 to 2 teaspoons Anise Seed into 2 cups of water along with a teaspoon of sugar, if desired. Anise Seed is used to treat colic and indigestion because it helps reduce nausea, bloating, and gas. It is also used to soothe toothaches.
