For those of you who only eat macadamia if it’s in your cookies, we have a few facts that will make you re-think your snacking routine. We all know that nuts are super nutritious (especially Al Rifai ones, duh) but the ones we’ve discovered about our little Australian are too intense not to share. Just a heads up in advance, you might want to grab a bowl of these delicious nuts because they are “get up mid- read worthy.” Thank us later.

  1. Prevents Heart Disease:

Macadamia are 100 percent cholesterol free and help an extreme amount when it comes to reducing cholesterol levels. This nut is rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, which are known to be cardio protective, which are a key factor in cleaning arteries. If consumed often Macadamia also lowers the level of triglycerides, whish is a type of body fat that can reduce the risk of coronary disease.

  1. Antioxidants:

The second health benefit of macadamia comes from their high flavonoid content. Flavonoids, which are naturally found in these plants, can help prevent cells from damage and protection against environmental toxins. These flavonoids convert into antioxidants in our body and search to destroy free radicals, which protect our bodies from various diseases and certain types of cancers such as breast, cervical, lungs and stomach.

  1. Weight loss:

The biggest myth about watching your weight is eating macadamia. If you’ve been trying to avoid it to lose weight you’ve been living a lie! The fat in macadamia is monounsaturated fat which actually promote fat loss. Macadamia nuts are rich in palmitoleic acid and omega 7 fatty oil that provide building blocks for enzymes and control the burning of fat and push aside the appetite. Their fatty acids content makes them an extremely satisfying food and to get your satisfaction you will only need a handful!

For all of those who work out, macadamias contain a high level of protein, which is obviously an essential component of our diet and forms muscles and connective tissues in our bodies. In addition, macadamias also help maintain the health of hair, nails and skin since it’s so high in protein!

Macadamias contain approximately around 7 % of dietary fiber. Dietary fiber promotes satiety, roughage, and aids in digestion. What isn’t known is that the dietary fibers in macadamia compromises of complex carbohydrates and includes many types of soluble and insoluble fiber.

Phosphorus in macadamia plays a variety of roles including bone and teeth mineralization, metabolism, absorption and transportation of nutrients. Calcium also helps in the formation of teeth and bones. Manganese in macadamia helps the body deposits new bone tissue, so that the skeleton stays very strong as you age.

Now the most important benefit of them all! Macadamia has the power to promote health of the nervous system. The copper in macadamia helps to make neurotransmitters, which is the chemical our brain cell uses to send chemical signals. Talk about brain power!
